The Vision

It all started with the dream of owning an organic regenerative farm to put down roots for our family. We purchased this property near Turin, Italy in 2015 and replaced the existing building. The Amilu Farmhouse is a newly built environmentally friendly home close to nature yet close enough to Turin to enjoy the city.

The Reality

The home is a modern reinterpretation of the classic Piedmont farmhouse built into the hillside on seventeen acres of hilly woodlands in Gassino. The distinctive light brick pattern on the façade gives the building a unique identity. The construction is based on distinct and connected volumes oriented to the topography of the land. The use of natural materials is inviting and warm, protecting you from the natural elements while remaining connected to nature with strategically framed views.

Renewable Resources

The dedication to sustainably is pivotal to the entire project. Energy flow and the water cycle aim to build resilience to climate change and self-sufficiency. The main roof is completely covered with 50kW of solar panels generating enough power to be self sufficient. In addition, two green roofs provide thermal insulation and the buildings are semi-underground. Even rainwater and wastewater are captured and recycled for use in cultivation.

The Amilu Farmhouse strives for a holistic approach to building, farming and living.

Come and stay in our unique paradise. We have an independent apartment that we designed as a Vacation Rental to share our efforts in regeneration and let you experience the wisdom of nature. We are completely surrounded by nature on our 17 acres hills of the beautiful Piedmont Italy. We’re only 25 minutes from the airport, 30 minutes from the center of Turin, 1.5 hours from Milano, 1.5 hours from the sea and 1.5 hours from a vast choice of Italian, Swiss or French Alps. Our family of four (kids ages 5 and 8) had a fantastic autumn stay in the Amilu Farm apartment. We were very impressed by the quality of finishings and special touches, like the murals. We all slept soundly in the very comfortable beds and peaceful quiet of the surroundings. Most memorable for us was the hands on experience on the farm and getting to help with the sheep (and lamb!) and chickens and learning about the regenerative farming practices - the kids are still talking about it and are as eager to return as we are!
